Tobacco consumption does become a hot issue on our life that it is relevant to economy and people’s health. As is subtly revealed in the portrayal, 200 billion US dollars are lost annually due to tobacco consumption and 3 million citizens worldwide died because of diseases raised from tobacco. Obviously, tobacco does harm a lot.

The thought-provoking drawing mirrors a phenomenon in contemporary society that there is the negative influence of smoking. 20 percent of the world population are smokers, and meanwhile about 14.4 billion pounds of tobacco produced in the whole year of 1994. It seems not a easy work to reduce the consumption of tobacco. To our great relief, however, the output of tobacco shrank in the year of 1995. That showed people aware the harmful effects of tobacco and determine to quit it.

According to the recent statistics conducted by Chinese Academy of Social Science, the past decade has witnessed a sharp decrease in tobacco consumption. We need jointed together. Only by enforcing our efforts together,can our society be more harmonious, our economy be more prosperous, and we, as individuals, embrace more promising prospect.

Promising does exist frequently on our life that it may attract more consumers to by products they trusted in. However, as this portrayal subtly revealed, a hen holding a notice promising that her eggs is round and contains egg shells, egg whites and yolks. How ridiculous it is!

Obviously, the goal of achieving a harmonious society may fall through under the influence of promises of nonsense. The destroying of moral system can bring great loss to both the individual and the whole society. According to the recent statistic conducted by Chinese Academy of Social Science, the past decade has witnessed a shard decrease in percentage of people who trust in commercial promises from 82% to 51%. That is to say, promises are being more and more invalid.

It is high time that we took effective measures to curb this trend(Effective measures must be took to curb this trend).As far as the government is concerned, it should set down corresponding legislation and regulations(propaganda) to rebuild a credit system. As for us, we should arouse the awareness of public towards regular promises.Only by enforcing these measures into practices, can our society be more harmonious, our economy be more prosperous, and we, as individuals, embrace more promising prospect.
